I have read loads of reviews about remote control cars, because I am a subscriber to a remote control car aficionados’ magazine that carries articles about all the different kinds of remote control gas cars on the market. It also recommends the best one to buy depending on whether you are a first time owner or an RC old hand. The magazine is great, and it helps me see what other RC car owners think about the various models and brands of RC cars and trucks.
I have to say that people’s views vary quite widely on every subject, which is why it’?s probably always best to do your own studying and get what best suits you, rather than getting what other people say will suit you, when they do not even know you. Having said that, many first time buyers do not actually know what they are looking for, and it is really these people that these reports are written for.
However, these reviews are not meant to be taken too literally, rather they are intended as a guideline so that prospective greenhorn buyers have to think about the aspects of buying a remote control gas car or truck. It also gives experts a run down of the salient facts. Then you need to make up your own mind whether you care, for instance, whether the car’s engine runs on gas or nitro.
All in all, I like this magazine because it takes into account people from all walks of life, and its writers and editor appreciate that even if you are interested in purchasing a gas remote control car, you may not have enough money or you might be reading just out of interest in RC cars or trucks.
We all realize that money is difficult to come by these days, and purchasers are becoming more and more well-informed about the goods they want, which is a good thing in my eyes. After all, there are other merchants who only want to get the most money they can for their goods and mark up their RC model car prices to exorbitant amounts in the hope that they will get a couple of foolish patrons that did not do their research.
And I am sure that they probably do get a few customers like that, because they do stay in business one way or another and I frequently hear awfulness stories about individuals who have paid far too much for their RC gas car or truck.
When you ask them why they did not take the trouble to read the reports in a magazine, they usually say that they did not know about the magazines, or even worse, that they did not have enough time. Therefore it seems that they had sufficient time to work like a dog for the money, but then not sufficient time to read a short magazine review? I doubt it very much. With a bit of luck, consumers will continue becoming more and more careful about their purchases.
It is such a pity, so, If you happen to be a new RC car fan, or you know someone who is, please make sure you read the remote control car and truck reviews before concluding a purchase. It can literally save you hundreds of your hard earned dollars.

Today, each schoolboy knows the story of William Webb Ellis, the Rugby School pupil “who with a fine disregard for the rules of football as played in his time, first took the ball in his arms and ran with it”. The presentation trophy for the Rugby World Cup is named the Webb Ellis trophy in his honour, and his “achievement” is commemorated by a plaque at the school
There is only one thing wrong with this story. It simply is not a fact. It was not until four years after the death of Webb Ellis in 1876 that the story first saw the light of day and its source is thought to come from a local antiquarian and former Rugbeian Matthew Bloxam.
He was not a contemporary of Webb Ellis but says that the story was told to him by an unnamed source some 53 years after the incident is alleged to have taken place.
In 1823, when the event is alleged to have happened, the rules of rugby had yet to be formulated and any alterations, such as the legality of carrying or running with the ball, were frequently agreed on an ad hoc basis a short time before the beginning of a game.
There were therefore no official rules for football during the period William Webb Ellis was at the school (1816?25). It was not until 1845, some 200 years after football was first played at Rugby School, that three pupils published the first written rules of the game.
For many years it had been the boys, and not the masters who had set down the rules which were frequently modified by every new generation of students.
Guy’s Hospital Football Club, formed in London in 1843, by old boys from Rugby School, has strong claims to be the oldest football club in the world. It definitely predates by 14 years the creation of Sheffield FC, believed to be the oldest club playing association football.
In 1871, after a number of contentious disputes with the Football Association, 21 clubs met in London to form an association of those clubs ‘who play the rugby-type game’.
And so the Rugby Football Union (RFU) was formed. The first International rugby game was played on 27 March 1871 between England and Scotland. The English team wore white shirts ornamented with a red rose and the Scots brown shirts with a thistle. (Scotland won the match).
The worries and conflicts regarding amateurism and professionalism had long proved a thorny topic. The representatives of Yorkshire and Lancashire are accredited with bringing in rules concerning amateurism in 1879.
These rules were finally formalized by the RFU in 1886. It is broadly believed that the northern clubs were in favour of the professional game whereas these northern bodies were strong advocates of amateurism,
However, conflict arose over the controversy regarding ‘broken time’, the topic of whether players should receive reimbursement for taking time off work to play.
The northern clubs had a large number of working class players who had either to miss games due to working commitments, or give up their wages in order to play rugby. By 1892, this subject of broken time payments was a problem not just for northern clubs such as Bradford and Leeds but also for clubs in the south.
It became an anxiety of the RFU: these broken time repayments would become a quick path to professionalism.
On 29 August 1895, 20 clubs from Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cheshire met at the George Hotel, Huddersfield and decided to resign from the RFU and create the Northern Rugby Football Union, which from 1922 became the Rugby Football League.
The dispute about compensation was one which at the time was also upsetting soccer and cricket. Every game had to work out a compromise; rugby’s stance was the most extreme. Amateurism was strictly enforced, and anyone accepting payment for playing rugby league was banned.
However, on 26 August 1995 the International Rugby Board declared rugby union an “open” game and thereby removed all restrictions on payments or benefits to those connected with the game.
It did this because of a committee’s decision that to do so was the only manner to end the hypocrisy of sham amateurism and to keep control of rugby union. The wheel had turned full circle.

Meditation has always proved well-liked. Monks and yogis have enjoyed practicing it for thousands of years and students of the East, usually younger Western people seeking their way in life, have frequently practiced it too. Monks of the east and the west have studied meditation as a method of enlightenment, although most people associate Buddhist monks with the chief proponents of this type of study and introspection.
In order to meditate for a protracted period of time, you need to be seated comfortably otherwise you may be distracted by soreness or numbness. In the East, people sit in the Lotus position from a very early age right up to the day they die, so meditating in the Lotus position, that is with crossed legs, is perfectly normal – most people sit crossed-legged each day of their lives, but we do not in the West.
Therefore, when a Westerner wants to meditate, it is frequently better to use a cushion or a mat, as you would when doing yoga or palates. A meditation cushion is meant to help you preserve the correct posture, with a straight back, while keeping you comfortable. A meditation cushion might help novices at meditation get used to sitting for long periods of time without moving. It could be useful in helping to train children particularly.
The name frequently given to a meditation cushion is ‘zafu’. It is usually handmade and attractive, but it has the function of lifting up the sitter so that the knees point downwards. This helps the sitter keep a straight back, which yogis believe is important to free the Kundalini which resides there.
Frequently this meditation cushion is credited with some status, so some people put it on a mat known as a zabuton rather than place it directly on the floor.
Traditional meditation cushions are round and manufactured from cotton. There are many designs, but they are often quite ornate. The stuffing for the cushion is normally natural kapok, cotton batting or buckwheat hulls. All of these natural fibres offer a quite stiff, yet comfortable support. Most meditation cushions have removable covers so that they can be laundered without getting the stuffing wet.
There is some deviation in the diameter and thickness of these cushions so that the user can get one to suit his or her girth and weight, although the majority of cushions of this nature will improve anyone’s experience of their meditation sessions. The diameters range from roughly twenty to roughly forty centimetres and are roughly twenty centimetres in thickness.
These meditation cushions are definitely an invention for the Western meditator since an Easterner would have no need for them, but having said that they can make your meditation session a lot more comfortable.

Anthropologists say that man evolved out of the sea and it is absolutely a fact that our prehistoric ancestors swam according to interpretations of cave drawings in Sura, Egypt. However, the earliest written references to swimming are from about 2000 BC, but people should have been bathing, swimming and fishing long before that.
Swimming competitions began in Europe around the turn of the Nineteenth Century, but there are sure to have been swimming competitions long before that in Europe and in other continents in the world. John Arthur Trudgen made the front crawl famous in 1873, although it is likely that this style was being used in other parts of the globe.
Until 1873, the breast stroke was the favourite style of swimming in Europe and America. The crawl, which was first known as the Trudgen, became an Olympic sport in 1896, the first of the modern Olympics, which were held in Athens. The butterfly stroke was introduced in 1952, before which it was considered as a variation of the breast stroke.
The vast bulk of our bodies is made up of water and there is a lot of oil as well. This means that the body is less dense than water, which also means that the human body floats under regular circumstances. So, the body will float in fresh and salt water at or 50%-ish below the surface.
You can go above this level by paddling water downwards, which will push the body up or you can go forwards by pushing water behind you. A blend of both of these actions will propel a swimmer forward at or above the surface of the surrounding water.
It is easier to swim in salt water than fresh water, because the salt makes the water denser which has the effect that your body will float higher in it. Good swimmers or rather fast swimmers have subtle hips.
Swinging from one arm to another in the crawl, which is the fastest stroke, depends on hip action not on substantial arm muscles. After all, the amount of water that you can move with your hands is not that heavy.
Thigh muscles are significant for a continuous, rhythmic beat and co-ordination is equally important. There are diverse styles of swimming the crawl, some swimmers like to to draw the water back with cupped hands, others with flat hands and yet others with fingers slightly spread.
Breathing is essential for any form of continuous exertion. It is best to control the breathing so that you breathe in on one stroke, hold it for a stroke and breathe out over the next two strokes. This means that you just have to raise your mouth out of the water every four strokes.
Swimming is a fantastic exercise because it exerts many muscles at the same time, but does not put pressure on hip, knee or ankle joints. It also increases the amount of oxygen in the blood., as do most exercises, but swimming encourages the participant to hold in breath which means that the swimmer gets all the advantages from that air.

RC may stand for two different sorts of cars: there are remote controlled and radio controlled cars. Both of these are enjoyable to use but there are some differences. The remote controlled car usually has wires which are connected between the car and the remote handset. No wires are used with a radio controlled car. Today, RC relates more to radio or infra red controlled cars.
One will find off-road and on-road cars to fit one’s needs in remote or radio controlled cars. The on-road cars are intended mainly for smooth surfaces whereas the off-road cars are made more durable with wider tires and full suspension.
Direction and speed are controlled with a hand held controller or transmitter for both the radio controlled car and the remote controlled car.
The controller or transmitter normally has levers or buttons to move to control the movement of the vehicle. Most of these require a battery. The regulation of two cars can be achieved with the controller as one does not need to switch between frequencies as is done with a radio controlled car.
The features on the controller are: left or right forward, straight forward, reverse to the left or the right and straight back. A car will stop if no lever is pushed or button pressed.
The radio and infra red controlled cars are run on radio frequencies. The controller may have joy sticks as well as buttons to operate to control the car.
The joy sticks are usually found in the more advanced models used by racing enthusiasts and users who are quite serious about what they are doing. Radio or infra red permits more comprehensive control of the car.
There are two different methods a car may be powered. They are electric or fuel, which is petrol or nitro. It is up to the individual as to which they buy but the electric is normally the better sort for the novice.
The electric powered cars have small electric motors and there are rechargeable cells that are manufactured of lithium polymer, nickel-cadmium, or nickel metal hydride. There are also two types of electric motors: brushed and brushless.
In fuel cars, there are small internal combustion engines, which are known as glow plug engines. A special mixture of methanol, oil, and nitromthane or plain petrol is used to fuel these vehicles. The mixture of oil used is normally castor oil and synthetic oil. The fuels are not exchangeable.
Small petrol engines have lately been used in some of the larger models. Using a mixture of oil and gasoline they are similar to the grass strimmer motors. There are numerous makes and models on the market today and they do not stop at merely cars.
Lorries, diggers, trains, helicopters and planes are a couple of the other RC?s that bin become discovered on the market. One just needs to make a decision what one is searching for and where they will get using their car.
Prices will vary significantly from a beginner’s car to an advanced car and from brand to brand. There are also kits to create one?s own vehicle.

If you have a swimming pool, you have to be aware of the safety aspects regarding that pool. There is no counter-argument, that is one of the legal responsibilities of an owner of a swimming pool . You are going to get people coming around who cannot swim; people who have eaten or drunken too much and should not swim; children and skinny-dipping teenage intruders and you have to provide a safe environment in which to swim for all or them or decline access.
The first area of swimming pool safety to tackle is the denial of access and the easiest way of doing this is the assembly of a security fence. It will deny access to passing children, interlopers and friends who came around to see you on the off-chance when you were not in.
There are thousands of drownings by misadventure in backyard swimming pools each year – most of them are children and drunks, who would still be alive today, if the pool had been locked up.
If you have your own children who cannot swim, get them taught as soon as you can and drill some safety routines into them. For example, they must never get in the pool without an adult supervising them and they must always wear flotation devices, which means that you should always have flotation devices on hand.
You will require waist rings, arm bands and life jackets. Those for use in a swimming pool by children are not expensive and can be inflatable. It is also a good idea to have some boards of styrofoam floating about just in case someone gets tired unexpectedly.
Make certain that there is always a capable swimmer on hand who knows basic First Aid, especially artificial respiration with particular reference to drowning. In fact, why not take the whole family down to the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade and all get your life-savers certificate? The least you should have is a proper life belt – ocean-going – on a rope that is long enough to reach anywhere in your pool and tie off the loose end.
It might be possible to get away with not having a security fence, if you use an above ground swimming pool, but you will have to check with the local authorities on that one. You will also have to take away the access ladders while it is not in use. Forgetting to do so could equate to criminal negligence if anyone were to drown in your pool.
Swimming pool safety is primarily about saving lives but it is also about the peace of mind of the owner of the swimming pool. If someone were to drown in your pool and you knew that you had not done everything within your power to prevent it, you would almost certainly carry that burden of guilt with you for the rest of your life, particularly if it was a child and even more so if it was your child or the child of one of your guests.

There is no question that Formula One racing is a gripping motor sport for those interested in cars, speed, engineering and design. The design of these Formula One cars is crucial to the speed that the car will travel at, and it is also imperative for the safety of the driver.
For this second reason, there are strict design rules applying to all cars in this motor sport and any car that does not abide by the rules is banned from taking part in the races. It is uncommon for car designers to infringe these rules because the price of driving in a race and the benefits from doing well are massive.
Having said that, Formula One car racing teams push the design features of their cars up to the limit. The key to gaining maximum speed and maximum fuel efficiency is having as aerodynamic a design as possible. These cars are as well designed as any fighter jet, but the foremost difference is that fighter jets are meant to leave the ground whereas cars are not.
Therefore, another vital part of the design is creating down force to keep the tyres firmly on the ground. It is important for a number of reasons for the tyres to have a decent grip on the track. Without this grip or traction, the car cannot accelerate, but without it they cannot stop either. Therefore down force and tyres are a major factor in speed and safety.
The brakes are extraordinary as well as you can imagine. They are basically the same as those used in stock road cars, yet the components are rather extraordinary. because they have to work and remain working at high speeds, this means that they develop high temperatures.
Ordinary metal would buckle or even melt, so high quality carbon fibre composite disk brakes are utilized instead in conjunction with brake pads of special composites which are frequently extremely secret. There are a lot of jealously guarded secrets in the designs of modern Formula One racing cars.
The foremost part of a racing car is the monocoque, which is the section that holds the engine and the driver. The car’s suspension is also mounted on the monocoque so it is clear that it has to be very strong. This strength is normally gained by constructing it from carbon fibre. There are also many safety features built into the monocoque for the benefit of the driver.
The engine has to be light-weight, efficient and powerful, which is a very tall order indeed. There is now also an FIA regulation that the engine has to last for more than one race weekend. Engine failure is the foremost cause of pulling out of a Formula One race early. The gearbox suffers just as much in a fast race. Another rule states that all gearboxes have to be manual – no automatic gearboxes. This adds to the wear and tear.
The suspension is manually adjustable so that it can be fine-tuned to every race track and the conditions existing on a race track at any given time. The suspension is not there for the comfort of the driver but to raise the chances of the car winning.

A large part of First Aid training can be applied to a wide spread of circumstances, but there are also particular situations where specialist information is necessary. This is quite straightforward to understand, because a bump or a scrape can happen under any circumstances, but phenol poisoning would probably only occur in an industrial accident.
There is not much point in learning how to help victims of specialist accidents if you are highly unlikely to ever be able to apply that information. However, you should take advantage of every free or subsidized dedicated course that you are offered at work. The same can be said for any hobby that you have, although you will probably have to pay for the course yourself.
In this case, I am thinking of swimmers, yachters, campers, hikers and people involved in sports or pastimes of that kind. After all, there is less value in knowing how to save a drowning person if your hobby is hiking or mountaineering. Knowing First Aid tips in the wilderness is very practical, but they are more likely to include, stroke, heart attack, broken bones and unconsciousness.
You are in essence on your own while you are in the outback or on a mountainside. If you are with a partner, all well and good, you are safer, but there is also two times the chance of an accident. However, there are more common reasons for concern than actual physical accidents.
Some of the far more common problems that happen while you are wandering in some wilderness or other are exhaustion, dehydration and insect bites. If you are hiking in the winter or above the snow line, then there is also frostbite and hypothermia to take into account.
In general, there are also snake bites and bites from large animals to consider. Fractured bones due to a fall are quite common, so if you are planning a hike into the wilderness, you actually do have to be prepared, because, if your phone is receiving a signal and the battery is charged, it could still take hours for help to get to you.
If you have a fondness for wandering in the wilderness, the first thing to do is not go alone. Ensure that you go with someone who has more experience than yourself until you can honestly say that you are proficient to lead someone else into a very perilous area where help is hours away by helicopter.
If you have studied how to go into the wilderness by partnering someone else, you ought to be OK. Another way of learning is to join the Scouts. Learning in this way will give you plenty of time to pick up pointers on how to handle exceptional conditions.
Do not make believe that you are able to lead someone else if you do not have the skill. Being stuck tens of miles from anywhere in the dark with a broken leg and no concept what to do is not going to impress anyone.
Owen Jones, the writer of this article, writes on numerous subjects, but is at present busy with school first aid kits. If you have an interest in RC vehicles, please go over to our website now at First Aid Courses Online.

Do you sort through your wardrobes from time to time or do you hoard all you ‘old’ clothes for years and years? Some individuals never, ever throw out any clothes. Maybe they are waiting for them to come back into fashion or maybe they are hoping to lose enough weight to get back into them. However it might be a good idea to have a regular clean-out, but do not throw those clothes away, donate them to a charity shop or a church bazaar instead. By donating clothes to charity, not only will it give you more space, but you will be helping to raise money for charity as well.
Additionally, you will be giving someone else the opportunity to acquire good quality clothing at a knock-down price. By donating clothes to charity, you will, in effect, be recycling your clothes and doing your bit for the environment at the same time.
When you are donating clothes to charity, they have to be spotless, complete and undamaged. Check that there are no buttons missing, that they are not ripped or blemished. Some of the larger charity shops also take other household objects too such as books, knick-knacks and furniture. The same applies to these items with regard to quality.
There is a broad range of charities for you to pick from when donating clothes to charity. For instance, there are: shops owned by: Dr Bernardo’s, The Salvation Army, Oxfam and Shelter and churches and the Guides and the Scouts are always organizing jumble sales and bazaars.
It is not right to think that the only people who use these charity shops are the itinerant and the destitute. People from all walks of life visit charity shops on a frequent basis hoping to pick up decent clothing or unusual articles and the money they spend on these articles of donated clothing provides a quite large and regular income for the charities involved. They have come to rely on this significant source of revenue.
Some communities also hold special events like a ‘Winter Coat Drive’ where people in the community contribute a new or used coat to the distributing organization, which then redistributes them to the needy. These drives can be aimed at all age groups, but they usually target children as the most innocent of the needy.
There are many types of organizations that accept charitable donations of clothing. For example, there is another one that accepts smart ladies’ business clothing. The idea is that when women want to come off welfare or start a new life after being in an abusive relationship, they can have a suit for their job interviews.
So, you see, whatever your political beliefs or wherever your social sympathies lie, there are organizations that will fit in with your charitable ambitions. In deed, a lot of people find the massive charities like Bernardo’s and Shelter just a little too large and a little too impersonal so they prefer to give their spare clothing to a local charity that helps local people.
